From ABC Kimberley’s Facebook page:

From 9pm tonight it will become illegal to travel into the Kimberley unless you are delivering essential goods or services, or have been quarantined from the public for 14 days.

The WA Government has confirmed one further exemption from essential goods and services; documented Kimberley residents will be permitted to return home from outside the region under the following conditions;

– They are not displaying symptoms of COVID-19; AND
– They must go into 14-days of self isolation IMMEDIATELY after returning to the Kimberley.

Police have established a roadblock at Sandfire Roadhouse to check travellers, while officers at the Victoria Highway checkpoint near Kununurra will perform the same role.

Anyone found to have breached the restrictions faces a penalty of up to five years in jail.
